Peer Based Recovery Support Project
Target Groups
· Those affected by addiction (All drugs legal and illegal)
· Those living in social housing
· Potential and actual early school leavers
· Those affected by depression or suicide
Services Provided
Arts/Holistic based training and development. Through the Arts and Holistic services much healing can be achieved effortlessly. Committee members all either have vast experiential knowledge or training mixed with experiential knowledge. The recovery project is a
- · Non Finish Line Model aimed at complete community recovery
- · Has a 1 rule guideline for participants – A desire to not need harmful drugs to cope
- · A Catch All facility assisting existing services (for those who do not succeed in giving up all drugs, or stabilising on methadone those dropping out of school and other recovery support projects, those on street methadone, those on rehab waiting lists, probation for drugs offences and so on)
- · Is a Non Professional based service where those involved not only learn new skills but also pass on the skills known to them
As well as being Arts and Holistic centred the project is also client centred. So our volunteers adapt to the passions of the client if they are evident and if they are not then we search for them experimenting with different methods/forms eg. Painting, drawing, Photography, music, writing, drama, graffiti, design...
Patience and acceptance are 2 qualities we promise to give you and ask you to do likewise. We don’t promise to have all the answers but we are interested in your healing process.
The project is open to all ages. It has a self rated PG status as art can be offensive to some and adult topics and language are likely to be used on site so if you are under 16 make sure your parents know you pop by.
Participation is open to the whole community particularly those with a keen interest or experience in the Arts, those interested in giving something back to the community, those interested in healing their community, those interested in reaching out to those on the fringes of society.
Unless referred by those parties mentioned above the cost of participation will be based on either wage or barter e.g. if you want to barter 2 hours of your time per week for participation in another workshop.
The Arklow Arts Festival Committee wish to thank Live Mic and the South Eastern Regional Drugs Task Force for the contributions made to this project.
